Let’s blame Chuck. It’s all Chuck’s fault you broke your back. It’s Chuck’s fault my hair fell out. It’s Chuck’s fault my brother died. Chuck fed Bindi to the coyote. Chuck threw my other brother, sister and my mom in front of cars. I don’t care if the human says Chuck is only 2 years old, and most of my family died 5 years ago. He still did it.

Now look – Chuck threw you out of the tree and you broke your back, went to the vet and died. (long pause) And it’s Chuck’s fault that it’s the one place we never tried to hunch each other! I hate CHUCK!

My stupid brother

Well, now he's gone and done it. The little idiot has disappeared. My human thinks he's died. If he has, I'm going to kill him. How did he pull that one off??? I've been trying for the past 4 years to pick him off and now he's gone and done it to himself. Cheater.

We used to go hiking with our human. I'd talk Bindi into climbing really tall trees to scare the human. I was really hoping he'd fall out, then I'd have the human all to myself. But he refused.

We also went camping for 5 days below the dam. At nite I'd take Bindi to the pond and kick him in. I forgot he was a good swimmer, so much for that idea. Once I tried to get him to cross the road, but he remember that's how our mommie and siblings died. Stevie and Mommie died by accident. Pee Wee threw himself under a truck when he found out the human was turning him into a eunich.

Welp, despite the fact that I used to beat you up all time, steal your food and tell you how stupid you look without a tail, I'm going to miss you...maybe...still thinking about that one...ok, I will.

This morning, the human had to get George's dad off his back. Blackie, George's dad, was trying to breed him. Stupid gay freak.

Ok! I know what you're thinking. "Hey Jeff! We saw you trying to breed Fred, George and a stump."

Well, I have an excuse. The human turned me into a eunuch and it's totally affected my brain! Blackie doesn't have an excuse. He's just plain weird or desperate. (Shut up human! I didn't either try to breed a stick!)

Anyway, I'm off to see what else the gay blade is up to. I'm drawing pictures later for my zine, "The Litterbox Chronicles."

Another amputation thwarted

I sat on my favourite perch (the bookcase) and watched as one of the kittens from hell struggled to free it’s little leg from the hole it’s brother had ripped in the wall of their playhouse. I wanted to ask my human for popcorn while I enjoyed the show, but I was afraid she’d notice and rescue the little brat who keeps eating my food.

Sadly, the little kittens screamed loud enough that the human found him. He fought her off when she tried to free his leg. I cheered, “Rip your leg off, sissy! Come on! Rip it off!” He got mad, called me a few names I didn’t know kittens his age knew, and continued flopping about like a fish out of water.

The human gave up and ran for the kids scissors. We did have adult scissors in the house, you know the ones that are sharp and pointy on the end, but she caught me chasing Bindi through the house trying to kill him for puking in our food bowl and that was that.

Anyway, she managed to cut his leg free and he was off to the litterbox. I think it scared the crap out of him. So, now there’s this even bigger hole in the side of the playhouse than there was before. The human was determined it wouldn’t happen again. And the stupid little kitten still has his leg. I can't believe all the money I lost. I bet I could have made a fortune selling it on eBay.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful sexy eye that lived in my left socket. Then along came an evil cat, named Kitty, who tried to remove it with her claw. I hate Kitty. I still have my eye, but I’m blind. Did I mention that I hate Kitty?

Anyway, my pet human is really mad at her. She makes sure the two of us are never outside at the same time and if we are, evil Kitty has to be in the big dog cage. If I'm inside, she has to be out. I like it this way. muuhahahahaaa....

My human took this sexy pose of me while exploring the Amazon. I was looking up at a massive black jaguar. He was roughly the size of an elephant!

He was afraid of me too and jealous of my bod. He would have tried to kill me because of it, if it weren't for the fact I don't wear deodorant.

So, that was my exciting weekend adventure. We explored the Amazon. I saw a black jaguar the size of Manhattan and my human tinkled her pants. Don't ask.

No stories from Jeff today. Instead this was inspired by Morris the Stray.

I've been really worried about him with winter coming on in a few months. I felt so bad last year that I couldn't let him in the house because it would have started a spray fest.

He had a number of places to stay warm. There was under mom's house, which was roughly a heater and of course he had the barn with lots of cubbies in the hay. But I still felt horrible.

So, this morning I did a search on igloo cat houses and got the link below. This site has a couple really cool ideas and they're cheap to make!

If you have strays hanging about you might want to give one of these a try.

I hope Morris likes it when I'm done.

There's a monster under the car!!!! by Jeff the Cat

I was just returning from a morning of killing everything in sight when I spotted my favourite cat food under the car.

I strutted my handsome body over to the food, lowered my sexy head to the plate when to my left I saw big, yellow glowing eyes!!!! REALLY BIG EYES!!!! THEY WERE BIGGER THAN THOSE ROUND THINGS ON THE CAR!!!!

Before I knew it the big yellow eyes darted for me with the speed of a sneeze blowing snot across Bindi's food bowl! Now THAT'S fast!

I screamed and ran for my precious little life!!!! I looked back. The big yellow eyes were still behind me with foam pouring from it's mouth!!! It growl so fierce and loud that my whiskers fell out!

I screamed again and dived under the porch ramp ripping the hair and flesh off my formerly handsome back. Blood squirted out everywhere!!! Bindi ran around with our food dish trying to catch it so he could put it back in me.

My guts were dangling out between my ribs!!! I looked....I looked...I looked like one really cool zombie!!!!!

After the damage was done, the human decide to make a grand appearance. Naturally she yelled at me, but I was hiding so I didn't care.

Then I heard a scream! The human had seen the ferocious monster!!!! She screamed again...it was her last. In a flash the ferocious monster flew through the air and ripped out her throat. My human was dead.

The end.

The story from the human's view:

So Morris the big yellow cat, with the big yellow eyes launched an attack on little Jeff. Most likely because he was eating his food.

Anyway, Jeff wasn't kidding about his back...well....he exaggerated it...but it did sound like he had ripped his back off when he dived under the ramp.

Boy is fast! His little feet were flying trying to get to safety.

Morris got his life threatened. He's a nice cat, but he needs to learn to keep his bloody little paws off my babies.

So that was Jeff's big adventure for the day.

There I was - sitting on the porch minding my own little business. Occasionally reaching out to slap Bindi on the head when he was drinking out of our water bowl, when like lightening! This thingy came whipping up the drive! It made all kinds of horrible sounds like someone was eating a screaming cat!!!

I ran off the porch! It turned and started chasing me! I screamed and ran for the tall grass that the human never mows because she's lazy. I looked back. It was still coming!!!! I dashed up the tree, the only place that was safe. The evil thingy stopped. *whew*

But I wasn't safe yet! I looked down from my perch and there was another thingy! It had something on it's head!!!! OH MY GOSH!!! IT'S JASON!!! I TOLD THE HUMAN FRIDAY THE 13TH WASN'T A MOVIE!!!! I TOLD HER IT WAS REAL!!!!!

What was even worse - Jason knew my name! He disguised his voice to sound like my human, but I'm no fool, I knew it was Jason! I knew he had a chainsaw behind his back!

After that, everything is a blur. All I remember is sitting on the floor with my human stroking me lil' back. I'm going to have nightmares tonight. (long pause) I just can't take thinking about this anymore. I want my beddy.

The true story by Bindi!

So, the human comes riding up the drive on her bicycle and Jeff completely freaks out. It was so fun to watch!!! He totally lost it!!! I think he peed himself, but he insists he was wet from running through water. (water that doesn't exist)

Anyway, I sat on the porch enjoying the whole show. I hope she rides her bike every day.

The evil Tiger made a guest appearance last night after being gone for over a month. I was sure he'd been eaten by a coyote! But NOOOOOO he's ALIVE!!!!! DANG IT!!!

To make things worse, MY human was babying him. She gave him 3 cans of cat food. She never does that for me. She picked ticks off him. I screamed for her to let them eat him alive, but she ignored me.

There's was only one thing left to do - I jumped on her back and rubbed my scent gland cheeks all over her head, her shoulders, I bit her repeatedly on the head. I rubbed my cheeks on her arms, her legs, her stinky feet! Now the world would know the human was mine and back off!!!

It didn't work. She put catnip on his bed. He lay his big fat head down on it and went straight to sleep! I HATE YOU TIGER!!!!

Attack of the pterodactyls

Yesterday the human took me on a new adventure! Spotty the evil snuck along behind and attacked me when the human wasn't looking. Spotty the evil cat ate my ears off. It hurt. The human yelled at him, but I couldn't hear what she was saying because my ears were hanging out of Spotty's mouth.

Anyway, we stopped at a little pond and that's when it happened. I never heard them coming! Really! I didn't! But I felt a wind coming down on me and next thing I knew my little butt was soaring through space!!! I'D BEEN NABBED BY TWO GIANT PTERODACTYLS!!!!! I screamed like a little girl!

The human kept staring up yelling, "WOW LOOK AT THAT!!!" I couldn't believe my ear-less head! She was excited instead of angry! CURSE YOU HUMAN!!!!

Eventually, she rescued me, but it took forever. So, last night I peed on her head while she slept. That will teach her. ha!

eeeee.....I SWALLOWED A SNAKE!!!!!!! by Jeff

It happened this afternoon when I was lying on me lil' porch sunning me handsome shiny body. As I slept, a sneaky snake snuck across my lil' porch, flicked his yucky tongue at me and shot straight up my nose and into my gut!!!! He was so fast I didn't see him or even FEEL HIM!!!!

My cute nose began to itch so I went to my human so I could rub the snot off onto her chin. I keep my snot collection there. I lay my adorable head down and went to sleep. (see my sweet pic?)

Anyway, suddenly my precious, sexy bod knew something was a muck and started fighting back. My gut began contracting! I looked like a squeeze box! A very dashing one, I might add.

I heaved and I heaved and in a final hack the snake went flying out of my mouth and onto the floor!!!! *faint*

[Jeff is lying flat on the floor whimpering, so I'll take over and tell what really happened. Jeff and I had a grass eating competition - see who could eat the longest piece. Jeff won. He ate a 4" long blade of grass. It was sooo cool!!! Then he chucked it up. That was even better!!!

I know. Boring story. But, that's why Jeff has his own blog and I just sit around looking handsome.

The sneeky beast came through the woods staring at my human. Being human, the idiot never heard a thing. The beastie glared at me. I growled. He glared some more. I growled some more.

The human turned to see what was wrong with me. The two cowards, Jeff and Bindi, hid behind the human and peeked around her. HA!!!! I'VE EXPOSED YOU LITTLE SISSIES!!! NOW THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS YOU'RE WHIMPS!!! CHICKENS!!! BABIES!!!! MUUUHAHAHAAAAAAAAA.....

As I was saying, the babies hid behind the human and I continued to growl. Then from somewhere on the hill there was a snort so loud that it sent the hair on my sexy body straight back. It's breath nearly knocked me out, but I stood my ground and growled even louder!!!

The human was excited! She kept patting me and saying, "Good Squeeky!!! You found a deer!!! Good girl!!!"

DEER? DEER? IS SHE BLIND???? IT WAS SASQUATCH!!!!! IT WAS A BIG SMELLY SASQUATCH!!!!

Obviously I have to go with her every time she's on the hill now. She's so deaf, blind and human that she'll probably get herself killed if I don't.

The human took us on a long adventure today. We hiked 27 miles, 3 feet, 2 inches. The sun made me sleepy. I passed out twice and was dragged away once by a bug-eyed squirrel named Sam. I hate Sam. He used my head for a nutcracker. CURSE YOU SAM!!! I SHALL HAVE MY REVENGE!!!

Anyway, the human rescued me and took me home. I was exhausted from my head cracking nuts and fell asleep. Naturally, the human couldn't let me lie in peace. NOOOOOO she had to sneak up and take my handsome pic!

Have you ever noticed how ugly humans are when they sleep? I'm glad I'm not a human, because we cats are just dang sexy no matter what! Come on! Look at my pics! Am I the sexiest cat you've ever seen or what???

How disgusting. The human took us on an adventure. I found a ladder that could take me the easy way up a tree. I couldn't climb it. How dare some human do that to me. So I snuck up the tree the old fashioned way! I hopped on the little floor! I saw a chair and peed on it.

I played there the longest time. It was fun. I could look down on my subjects the way a great one like me should. They pretended I didn't exist, but I knew they feared me.

When I was at the peak of fun, the human called for me. We were moving on. They were, at least. I was stuck up the tree. I tried the ladder. I couldn't get down. Ha! I, Jeff the Mighty Adventurer, could not be stopped. I grabbed the tree and scooted down.

On the way down, I made a vow that I will track down and rip to shreds the evil human who put a ladder on a tree. CURSE YOU HUMAN!!!

Our human thought it would be really funny tonight to play coyote and red fox calls on the pc. We all freaked out. I, Jeff the mighty, looked like a prairie dog sticking my handsome head up over the furry moon chair.

Spotty tried to play cool by sitting up on the footstool, but I'm pretty certain he peed. Squeeky freaked out and ran for her life. I think she hid under the bed. Then Tiger came in. She played that stupid coyote sound. Tiger didn't flinch and kept on bathing. Then she played the red fox. I knew this would be the sound that would send him screaming like a little girl.

The fox sound played, Tiger glanced up, looked around and went back to bathing. It took everything I had in my tiny handsome body to not run over and beat the crap out of him.

She played the fox again. Finally!!! Finally!!!! He sat up right and looked around. DRATS!!!! It didn't last! He lowered his eye lids like Garfield (my hero) and sat looking at our stupid human. She rolled her eyes, realising she was going down in defeat and turned it off.

This innocent looking (*cough*) cat was attacked in the pitch black of night by a massive evil yellow cat!

In retaliation, the innocent looking cat hired a hit man...thing....four-legged rodent to take on the hairy beast.

Unfortunately, the innocent cat, lost control and tried to eat the tiny soldier. Alas, not only did the innocent cat get the crap beat out of him by the big yellow cat, but he was beaten senseless by the tiny soldier.
Innocent cat is now hiding somewhere in the cottage, his hairy head hung in shame.

I woke up sick this morning. It's all Tiger's fault. He refused to get well until I was half dead on the floor. Last night he saw me spread out and walked back and forth over my sick little body. I glared. He snickered and walked over me again.

The human was out of the room. When she came in and saw my pathetic little body with cat tracks over my precious fur, she picked up Tiger and pampered him just because his stupid eyes had yucky stuff in them. Stupid human. I'm the one suffering. I don't care if he sneezes! I don't care if he looks like he ate a bad guppy! I have cat tracks on me!!!!

There was only one way to get revenge on the stupid human. I snuck in her room and barfed on the floor. Of course, Tiger saw the whole thing and went one step further - he peed on the living room floor - right in front of the litterbox. Cursed geezer!!!! He showed me up again!!!

Tiger the sissy came home a couple days ago with his right eye all bloodshot and swollen. I told the human I did it. She rolled her eyes - across the floor, picked the cat hair off, shoved them back in their sockets and told me to go outside.

I hid behind the futon instead and watched her pull out some cotton balls to clean the sissy's eyes. When she wasn't looking I snuck over and tried to pee on the cotton balls.

Yesterday, the human took me and Bindi on the hill to the pond. Bind was a sissy and stayed by the human. Me, being the great and mighty Jeff, afraid of nothing including my own fleas, went searching for my little brother Pee Wee. I'm lonely not having anyone to beat the crap out of.

I sniffed my way to the back of the pond, past the sassafras tree, the Paw Paw tree and 16 snakes. I sniffed my way up the hill through the weeds, stickers and 27 coyotes. Then in a flash! A big black bear came racing out of the woods!!!! I screamed!!!

The bear chased me to the pond! Just as I turned to see if the bear was going to eat me, a big shark came out of the pond and bit my tail off!!!! I screamed again!!!

I looked up for the human. Her and Bindi were sitting on the dam shaking their heads acting like I was an idiot. But I know what I saw! They can't fool me!

But that's ok. I got my revenge this morning by coughing up a huge hairball on the kitchen floor - right where she steps every morning....muuhahhahahaaa...

This morning I was on the porch quietly eating my crunchy tastless food, when the human came up behind me and yanked my pet grass out of my butt!

I cried. She threw her arms around me, hugged me and apologised. I DIDN'T WANT AN APOLOGY!!! I just wanted my grass back in my butt. But nooooooo...what is it with you humans! Grass hanging 5 inches out of your butt is really cool! No one else in the barnyard had one! No one!!! Now my butt looks just like everyone elses.

I ate lots of grass all day. I'm hoping to squeeze another one out my hiney. BEWARE HUMAN!!!! TOUCH MY HINEY AND DIE!!!!

Year in review...

I thought I'd give a review of the past 8 months. So far I've lost 6 cats. Here's how the list goes:

Dad, who was one of all the kids dads, bit a live wire and blew his tongue off and we won't get into what it did to his face.
Little Stevie, the boys sister, gets hit by a car because she followed her mom across the street. Bindi and Jeff freak out. Bindi leads me down to where it all happened. It was like he wanted to see if I could do anything.
Morris, the kids other father died of pneumonia. It was horrible.
Siamese, Bindi and Jeff's mom is hit by a car. My neighbor graciously buried her for me because he didn't want me to see.
Shad, one of Kitty's litter disappears. He looked pretty bad the last I saw him and then he was gone. I'm guessing worms did him in. Long story.

All of this since January. I only have 7 cats left, and I'm hoping I still have some left by December.

With all the deaths, I've learned to hug and kiss each cat before I go to bed, because I'm not sure if I'll see them in the morning. The night before was no exception. I was holding Pee Wee and cuddling him debating on whether I should let him stay out. It was the last I'd ever see him.

Ok! I've got it all off my chest. I'm outa here.

In Memory of My Precious Little Pee Wee
August 2006 - August 2007

I called for Pee last night and he never came to say good nite. So, this morning I went out calling again. No come. I checked the road - no Pee Wee. I decided I'd wait awhile before I called again. By 1:00 Pee Wee still hadn't come home. That was normal.

I went back to the road and at the end of our property there was his tiny little body. You always wonder when they've been hit if they died instantly or flopped around like I've seen some do. B"H little Pee went instantly.

The guy who hit him either tried to miss or Pee Wee came out of the ditch too soon. His right arm was broken and his head was hit but not crushed. That's why I'm guessing the car swerved but it was too late.

He hadn't been dead for long. What sickens me is I think he was hit because he heard me calling him. That crushes. By the time I found him, his body was still limp, but he had begun to smell.

It took about 1.5 hours to dig his grave. We've hardly had any rain, which made it even worse since the ground three inches below the surface is solid clay. It took a couple large buckets of water to finally loosen the soil to bury him.

Evil Jeff climbed part way in the grave and nudged his brother. He knew it was him because he moved the cloth I had Pee covered with and was smelling him. Both Jeffie and Bindi got to say good-bye.

I keep trying to focus on how bad his asthma was getting and how no amount of antibiotics was curing his upper respiratory. It's not working, but I'm trying.

I'm off to grieve.

Jeff Strikes Again!!!! by Chubb Chubb

There I was, innocently trying to get my gorgous self off the barn roof when down below I heard a voice that stood the fur up on my back. It was....Jeff the Evil!!!!

Jeff had a strange look in his eyes as he asked, "Hey Fatso! I'll help you get down!"

Next thing I knew, the king of evil was on the roof and behind me. Before I could turn around and defend myself, his foot was attached to my behind and I went flying.

Jeff yelled, "LOOK OUT BELOW!!! IT'S THE 82nd KITTY AIRBOURNE!!!!"

Despite the fact that I landed wrong on my right paw, I screamed so loud my spleen shot out of my mouth! Jeff jumped off the roof, grabbed it and raced to the computer. Before I knew it, it was sold on eBay! I HATE YOU JEFF!!!

FATSO FLIES! by Jeff the Wonder Cat!

I looked up and saw Fatso trying to get off the barn roof. Being the Wonder Cat I am, I wasn't at all surprised when a sense of chilvary burst through every vein in my sleek handsome body! I raced like the knight I truly am up the roof to the fair Fatso's rescue!

Unfortunately, Her Royal Fatness was so heavy that in my attempt to help her down, my handsome legs gave out and we both went toppling off the roof. Thankfully, I landed on her!

Of course, being a fat female she blamed me for the whole thing. Fat denial - it's an ugly thing.

Oh yeah! And about her spleen! I tried to shove it back down her throat, but she kept barfing it up! So, why not take advantage of the moment. I sold it for $423 bucks on eBay! :]

My zit is shrinking. I'm going to miss my zit. I thought it'd be there forever. I was even beginning to think that maybe I'm not a cat after all! Maybe I'm a unicorn! In fact, I probably AM a unicorn, but that STUPID HUMAN RUINED IT BY TAKING ME TO THE VET!!! HE SHRUNK MY HORN!!!!!! CURSE YOU VET!!!!! CURSE YOU!!! I HOPE A DOG PEES ON YOUR FOOT!!!!

My Big Zit by Jeff

The evil human dragged me off all by me lil' self to the vet today. I confess - I cried. I'm only telling you so you'll feel sorry for me.

Anyway, while I was there, three big dogs, one elephant and a rhino tried to eat me. Then the evil vet grabbed my zit and squeezed it. He squeezed, and squeezed and suddenly my zit turned into an exploding potty!!!

My little eyes bugged out of my head, like eyeballs on springs! Blood and puss gushed out everywhere! The floor was flooded with my zit! The vet threw up! The human passed out and my eyeballs were still bouncing like springs.

After the vet finished barfing, he shoved a golf ball down my throat!!!! A big purple one!!! He claimed it was some sort of pill that would make me feel better. I wish I'd had a 9 iron and I'd made him feel better.

Anyway, I'm recouperating by beating the crap out of everyone in the barnyard. OH!! THERE'S PEE WEE!!! THE EVIL BEAST WHO STUCK HIS CLAW IN MY HEAD TO BEGIN WITH!!! CURSE YOU PEE WEE!!!! YOU'RE GOING DOWN!!!!

Jeff's Big Zit, by the Human

Ugh! Welp, Jeff's big zit cost me another $37 bucks today. It was really gross when the vet popped it. Blood and puss went flowing out everywhere.

I was really surprised Jeff just sat there taking it. The vet was too. He'd never seen such a nice cat. Jeff was insulted by being called the nicest animal that he'd seen that day. That's probably why he's beating the crap out of everyone.

Anyway, he's on some new antibiotic pill. If the swelling isn't gone in 10 days and his eye hasn't stopped watering so much, he has to go back to the vet. They'll make him drowsy, cut open his zit and see what's in there. I think it's Pee Wee's claw.

Anyway, hopefully it will be gone or I'll have a really nasty bill to pay. (yo whimpers and heads for a cuppa tea.)

Attack of the Snake by Tiger

I was innocently rolling over top my circlely-scratchy toy, when suddenly this long snake popped up from my toy and struck at me!!!

I jumped back! The human sprung forward! My siblings turned and stared! Slowly I reached my paw out to see if it'd attack. It layed there lifeless.

How's that for power! Just one look at my fierce Tiger face and he died on the spot. FEAR ME JEFF!!! FEAR ME!!!! I STILL RULE THE BARNYARD!!!!!

Attack of the Snake by Jeff

So there was Tiger, the 2000 year old cat. Geezer of the barnyard. Woosie of the fields playing on our scratchy toy, when suddenly a long snake-like piece of cardboard went flying up in the air!

Tiger nearly had a heart-attack! He jumped back. Terror ripped across his geezerly face!!!! The human was cracking up laughing! My siblings were cracking up laughing! Tiger was on the verge of peeing himself.

Finally, he mustered up the courage to see if the snake would bite him. The human was still laughing. He carefully stretched out his paw and tested the cardboard snake. It was hilarious! Wish you all could have been there. I STILL RULE, YOU FREAKING GEEZER!!!

So Tiger was playing on the scratchy toy, when a piece of snakelike cardboard went flying up in the air. Tiger freaked out and that's when it hit me! No, not the cardboard snake, but the reality that Tiger has encountered his fair share of snakes this year.

I've never really thought about the snakes they might be encountering on their adventures. Obviously Tiger has had some scary ones, because he was scared out of his wits. Poor baby.

Jeff here! I'm proud to announce that my face is back to normal (stop laughing at me Pee Wee) and I'm the terror of the barnyard again! It's great to tear open legs and arms again. I missed that.

Unfortunately, I'm not well enough to attack Tiger. But when I am - he's dead meat. He slapped me twice when my face was swollen. I've been plotting my revenge ever since.

A morning of terror

This morning I had to make an emergency trip to the vet. Jeff's forehead and nose were all swollen and the swelling wasn't stopping. Then, there was Pee Wee with his chest so congested he was having a hard time not throwing up his food.

B"H, Jeff's swelling was from his constant love of attacking his siblings. The vet said he had taken a nail to the forehead and it got infected.

So both boys had shots and are now on Clavamox, and Pee Wee has his humidifier running with Katz in it. :] The excitement never ends when you have seven cats. :]

Chase the Skinny Bird. Or It's Stick Chasing Time!

The fun of being with my cats nearly 24/7 is that I learn a lot about cat behaviour and their unique personalities.

Like this morning. We were outside playing chase the stick. Bindi chases for the sheer fun of chasing it along the ground. Pee Wee just likes to roll on his back and look cute. Squeeky tries hard not to be tempted. Chubs takes some swats and gets sleepy. Spotty gets all excited over the stick and chases the kittens. And then there's Jeff.

Take a look at the pic of Jeff in the upper right hand corner. Look into his eyes...look deeper...deeeeperrrrr. Those are the eyes of a sick cat.

When Jeff attacks the stick - he's out for the kill. Today, he ripped it from my hand, put it in his mouth and stalked about the exact same way he does when he has a bird.

He'd eye his brothers, daring them to touch his long skinny stick bird. His sibblings looked at him like he was an idiot. It was a kodak moment. :] And sadly, I didn't have my camera. Oh well...there's always tomorrow!

Sad moment in the week.

Tough day. The tabby whose the kittens/cats father showed up lame. He had been missing for a little over a week.

The vet said his jaw was broken, most of the roof of his mouth was gone and deeply infected, half his tongue was missing and he had a wound on his right hip. His mouth is most likely the result of getting hold of an electric fence, and somewhere during his fight to get home he was attacked.

The thing that crushes me little heart is knowing from the moment it happened he had me in mind. He knew if he could just get home I'd do everything possible to help him. How he survived as long as he did without water or food is amazing. And to have fought his way home when he was in such incredible pain is even more so.

The vet said he might be able to repair him, but the most humane thing we could do was put him to sleep. I agreed. In fact, when I took him in I was pretty certain he wouldn't be coming out again.

As demented as it sounds, I'd rather see a human suffer any day than an animal. A human can at least express how he's feeling. He can also help himself in some way. An animal can't.

On the bright side, the ornery cat is no longer in pain, and for that I'm thankful.

Brrr...is a good way to start the first entry to my new blog! The temps are cold enough to make a cat's pee freeze it to the ground. In fact, out of sheer fear of it happening, all eleven cats are hiding here in the cottage.

One of their fathers has made his home in the dogloo, now known as the kittyloo. Since little Stevie peed on my foam mattress cover, I put it over the loo to give the big yellow cat more protection. This morning I covered the exposed rear with a thick layer of hay and added more in the box. For a stray cat, this bugger is spoiled. He was even served breakfast in bed. :] Best of all, he's warm as toast. :]
